My Approach

Counselling and Training Julie Newberry

My philosophy is that we all have choice, freedom and responsibility. And that we have the ability to reach our true potential and be our own self.  My approach is to integrate various humanistic models of therapy and my work is underpinned by Person-Centred theory, Gestalt Therapy and Existential Philosophy. I also use my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to inform my clients.

We can all get stuck sometimes. Maybe in fixed patterns of behaviour and beliefs about ourselves. This may stop us having rewarding relationships or from leading a satisfying life. My belief is that with a little help you will be able to access and trust in your own inner resources and will be able to find new ways to resolve the problem you are facing, thus enabling you to move forward with your life.

I specialise in relationship problems and couples counselling; and also in dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, post traumatic stress, anger and grief.

In addition I can help with:

  • Mild Depression
  • Self Harm
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Separation and Divorce
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Self confidence
  • Shyness
  • Low self esteem
  • Bereavement and other Loss
  • Phobias
  • Anger
  • No sense of life purpose/ meaninglessness
  • Cultural isolation
  • Work stresses and pressure
